We are a nonprofit founded in 2026 for the purpose of building a Brazos Valley where suicide is no longer an option. We do this by making sure every person who is struggling has a way to be seen, the support system around them feels equipped to help, and the community at large feels supported with the resources necessary to receive proper care.

Meet Our Team.

    Dani Kazlow

    FOUNDER, BOARD DIRECTOR

    Driven by a desire to see this community have everything it needs to care for those who are suffering, Dani decided to step into the gap of need and bring the hope of the gospel to fill it. She is a licensed professional counselor, mom to two girls, and wife to Andrew. She enjoys being outside, traveling, and will never turn down a free coffee.

    Brooke Kunzman

    BOARD MEMBER

    “If you have the opportunity to do something good, why not do it.” Brooke is filled with a passion to equip others to be better than they could on their own. She loves the idea of being the change in one person’s life which then goes on to be the change the world needs. Brooke enjoys time with her family, loves a good book, and is an incredible baker.

    Amber Roberts

    BOARD MEMBER

    Compelled by hope and an earnest desire to help bring good into the world, Amber is dedicated to our mission- believing every situation and hardship is redeemable through the mercy and power of Jesus Christ. When she’s not with her two boys, beloved dogs, or husband, Amber is out in the community doing what she does best, being loved by all.

Origin Story.

In 2014, I headed off for my first semester in college at Texas A&M knowing no one while battling deep depression and facing an overwhelming amount of problems. Over time, the weight of this burden grew until the only solution left I could think of to find relief was to take my own life. By God's grace, I was unsuccessful. In the months that followed my attempt, I was gifted the finances and resources necessary to receive practical help, found a community of safe people to be open with, and started the long journey of recovery.

Fast forward 10 years to a walk with my daughter while pregnant with my second. It hit me- I looked at what was right in front of me and thought: I tried to end this. Everything I thought I could never have was now a gift I almost didn't receive. The harder thought followed: this is not most people's story. Counseling is expensive. The Brazos Valley doesn't have any crisis care. The stigma around suicide keeps people from asking for help, and even the people who love them don't know what to do. 

Unseen, unequipped, and unsupported.

That is why The Brave Center exists. No one should have to face these moments alone. Our goal is to prevent the problem before it escalates and give those in pain, and their loved ones, the tools to find a way forward.

Our Beliefs and Values.

The Brave Center is a charity non-profit centered around Christian values. However, our services and partnerships do not discriminate based on religious belief or lack of belief. Our staff and Board members all hold to the basic tenants of the Christian faith. Our faith is what drives us to believe that every life matters and is worth saving. The hope we offer to the community is reflected in the hope we find from Christ’s death, resurrection, and ascension- that no situation and no person is beyond change. We can be brave because there is always life in the face of death. Our services will be reflective of these beliefs but will not exclude anyone who does not align with them. 

Choose Brave

It is costly to step into hope when you have none. That’s why we step into the pain with you. We try even when it's hard and uncomfortable. We have the courage to keep going and help others find theirs. It takes bravery to ask for help, and bravery to receive it.

Competent Care

We know our stuff. We are well-trained, confident, and committed to approaches that actually work- not just warm feelings, but real next steps. We understand the research, we know the resources, and we can point people in the direction they need to go.

Everyone’s Loveable

Everyone does what they do for a reason and is worthy of love. No stigma, no shame. Because we believe everyone is equal in value and worthy of receiving help, we work hard to make sure cost, logistics, and circumstance never stand between someone and the help they deserve.

Warm Welcome

This place feels alive, safe, inviting, hopeful, and energetic. It’s not clinical or somber, but somewhere you actually want to be. From the front door to every conversation, people feel like they belong, because real change happens when the whole community is in it together.

Our Name and Logo.

It’s vulnerable to admit you are struggling and to ask for help. It takes courage to walk into someone else's pain and stay. None of it is easy, and we never want to pretend otherwise. The process of healing and growth is risky. We hope to be a place that gives you everything you need to be brave.

Our logo is a picture of what we believe- that individual people coming together, supporting one another, create something far stronger and more beautiful than any one person could build alone. We need each other to solve this.

That courage is grounded in the hope we have in Jesus, who overcame the most impossible circumstances and makes it possible for us to be brave today.
